CCM parliamentary aspirant Mr Khamis Kagasheki has pledged that if he is reelected MP, he will ensure that all the villages under âGreen Beltâ will be supplied with electricity and will get clean and safe water by 2020. Kagasheki made the pledge during a campaign meeting held at Nyanga ward, in Bukoba municipality on Wednesday.
Wards under âGreen Beltâ include Kahororo, Nyanga, Kitendaguro, Ijuganyondo, Kagondo, Nshambya , Buhembe and Kibeta. According to the 2012 Population and Housing Census, Bukoba Municipal council comprised 14 wards with population of 128,796 including 66,275 females and 62,521 males.
Wards in the Green Belt with respective population in brackets include Kahororo (6,618), Nyanga (3,129), Kitendaguro (5,672), Ijuganyondo (2,591), Kagondo (4,170), Nshambya (9,020), Buhembe (4,042) and Kibeta (8,088).
Other wards are Hamugembe (12,906), , Kashai (30,791), Miembeni (6,543), Bilele (5,405), Bakoba (17,474), and Rwamishenye (12,347). Meanwhile, Union CCM presidential candidate, Dr John Pombe Magufuli will address a campaign meeting in Bukoba Municipality on September 21, this year, the Kagera Regional CCM Secretary, Mr Ali Idd Ame, has disclosed. Mr Ame has urged candidates vying for various positions to conduct peaceful campaigns.
