The world’s population is projected to increase to 8.5 billion by 2030, and exceed 11 billion within the next century, a United Nations report says. And there should be 11.2 billion people on Earth by the end of this century.
Nine countries are expected to make up half of the world’s population growth between now and 2050: India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, the US, Indonesia and Ghana.
Africa has the highest current rate of population growth of any continent and is expected to account for more than half of the world’s population growth between 2015 and 2050.
