DRIVERS and the general public have been urged to corporate with traffic police in implementing the new system of paying fines through electronic technology known as ânotification of offencesâ which begins today in Dar es Salaam region.
The system will go together with the principle of placement of dots on driversâ licenses known as -Driverâs License Point System- depending on the seriousness of the offense committed by the driver.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Traffic Police Commander Mohammed Mpinga said that the system requires drivers to pay on the spot when they commit an offence and failure to do so the Automatic Number Plate Recognition System (ANPRS) will be used in order to identify vehicles which have not paid fine on time.
âThe police force will conduct a special operation on vehicles which dodge to pay fine by using a special plate to identify the registration numbers of cars known as ANPRS,â he said.
He said that in order to simplify the exercise of paying fines through electronic device, drivers will be required to have driving licenses everywhere in order to spend little time when drivers commit an offence.
He reported that those who will be noted by the police during the special operation for having dodged to pay fines on time, they will be taken to court or fined 50,000/- or face a six months sentence.
